How do I know if I need to use OASIS?

You will need to use OASIS if you will be "working" anywhere on the Brisbane Airport Rail Link (BARL) or the domestic or international airport train stations. This will definitely include Airtrain employees, contractors and sub-contractors.

Normally, the Airtrain representative that you deal with will organise your OASIS account and designate the safety courses that you must complete.

How can I get an OASIS account?

The Airtrain employee that you deal with will normally create an OASIS account for you. If an account can not be arranged, contact us directly by using the Contact Us link on the left or by clicking here

When an OASIS account is created, an email is automatically sent to the email address associated with the person, containing their induction number and starting password.

You will need to complete your assigned safety courses before starting work on the Brisbane Airport Rail Link. You will need to print out and present your OASIS safety certificate when you arrive on site.

What prerequisites do I need before I can use OASIS?

None!

All of the material, procedures and safety information you need to know are contained in the courses.

I don't know much about trains. Will I struggle with the material presented?

No!

The safety courses contained in OASIS have been developed in a "speak-easy" manner. There is no industry jargon or acronyms that you will be expected to know.

As part of our commitment to safety, we want to ensure that you understand any dangers or hazards that may exist when working on the Brisbane Airport Rail Link. In order to do this, we have compiled our safety courses into e-friendly learning suites.

Depending on the type of work you will be involved with for Airtrain, you may not need to undertake all of the courses contained within OASIS.

What types of safety courses are presented?

The following themes of safety courses are covered. Some of these themes contain a number of safety courses.

  • General Safety
Dangers and hazards on the BARL and Airtrain policies

  • Location Familiarisation
Get to know where the Airtrain track, stations and exits are

  • BARL Safety Levels 2-3
Advanced safety procedures for working on the actual train track

  • Authority to Work System Levels 1-3
Understand the system that protects you when working on the BARL

  • Incident and Emergency Procedure Levels A-D
Know what to do in case something goes wrong

How long does each safety course take to complete?

Each course is broken up into a series of smaller modules which normally contain a single web page of information, followed by an exam of 1 to 4 questions.

Each module takes an average of about 5 minutes. Each safety course could probably be finished inside an hour. A great feature of OASIS, is that each safety course does not have to be completed in one day. You can finish a certain amount of modules from a course, and then complete the remaining ones a couple of days later.

How is each safety course assessed?

For each modules in the course, there is an exam after a 1 page presentation of material. These exams are usually multi-choice, and are used to ensure you have an understanding of the material just covered.

Don't assume that because the exams are multiple choice, they will be easy. The exam questions have been purposely designed to not only ensure you understand the safety material covered, but can also understand its application.

You will need to answer all the questions correctly in the module exam, to complete the module.

How do I login?

When your OASIS account is created, you will be emailed an OASIS induction number and initial password. To login, type the induction number and password provided into the login box on the top left corner of the main OASIS page (it's also on the top left of this one).

After you login, you will be presented with a list of the safety courses that you must complete before you can start work on the Brisbane Airport Rail Link.

What happens if I forgot my OASIS password?

If you forget your password but remember you OASIS induction number, you can automatically have a new password generated and an email sent to you by clicking on the Forgot your password? link underneath the login area. (You can also click here).

If you can't remember your password or induction number, then you will need to contact us by using the link on the left or by clicking here.

Do I only need to complete the safety training once?

No!

Airtrain is dedicated to providing a safe working environment for everybody. For this reason, you will be required to retake the safety courses to "refresh" your safety awareness. In most cases, each safety course is valid for a period of 12 months.
